Virasoft deploys its image management and AI solutions at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT

Virasoft deploys its image management and AI solutions at the Yilmaz Laboratory at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT.

Virasoft, a leading healthcare technology company focusing on cancer diagnosis and research through digital pathology, deploys its image management and AI solutions at the Yilmaz Laboratory at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT. Virasoft provides end-to-end digitization of pathology processes, enhancing the daily activities of anatomic pathology laboratories, cancer research labs, and biopharma companies with AI-powered algorithms.

Virasoft's image-processing algorithms will help Yilmaz Lab researchers with their repetitive research activities both in terms of reproducibility and speed in their quest to understand the unknown mechanisms in cancer.  In addition, Virasoft's digital pathology solutions will aid researchers in managing digital images and conducting challenging computational processes.

"With the algorithms from Virasoft, we will be able to speed up our counting and calculations, by reducing the amount of time spent per slide from 10 to 15 minutes to seconds" said Omer Yilmaz, MD, Ph.D., Omer Yilmaz who is the Eisen and Chang Career Development Associate Professor of Biology at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT and a gastrointestinal pathologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

Samet Ayalti, Co-CEO of Virasoft Corporation, emphasized that Virasoft will expand beyond anatomic pathology laboratories to all research laboratories that use histopathology and immunohistochemistry techniques. Mr Ayalti added that "Virasoft's solutions will demonstrate their performance with increased efficiency and accuracy in cancer research laboratories, first in the USA and then in global markets".

About Yilmaz Lab (yilmaz-lab.mit.edu)

The goal of the Yilmaz laboratory at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT is to understand how adult stems cells and their microenvironment adapt to diverse diets in the context of tissue regeneration, aging, and cancer initiation. Towards this end, Dr. Yilmaz and his colleagues are studying the effects of dietary interventions on intestinal stem cell (ISC) function in the mammalian intestine.
