Virasoft provides digital pathology systems that optimize the pathology workflow with digital slide management, slide viewing and quantitative image analysis for Acıbadem Hospitals pathology laboratories. In partnership with Acıbadem Hospitals and Virasoft, artificial intelligence projects are being developed for several cancer diagnosis.
Digital Pathology System
ViraCenter is an integrated digital pathology system includes, image management system quantitative analysis system and consultation system. Image management system is a server-based slide management system that allows data to be stored and accessed from all locations. Virasoft developed various quantitative analysis module for specific biomarkers that should be evaluate numerically. There are four image analysis algorithm which are nuclear analysis (Ki67, ER, PR, P53), membrane analysis (HER2, PD-L1), FISH analysis (amplification, deletion, break apart, fusion) and tissue segmentation analysis. Many academic studies have been carried out using these analyses together with pathologist from Acıbadem Hospital.
AI Based Projects
The Artificial intelligence studies are being developed rapidly with the big data source provided by Acıbadem Hospital and the guidance of expert pathologists. In the artificial intelligence project, studies are continuing under four main titles: breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung and colorectal cancer. Breast cancer module is a trainable model for identification and scoring of Nottingham grading parameters which are mitosis, nuclear pleomorphism and tubular differentiation. The artificial intelligence-based algorithm is able to learn and detect cancerous patterns based on their features like chromatin texture and size of tumor nucleus. Prostate cancer module is a deep learning model that classifies prostate slides to normal, pattern 3, 4 and 5 according to gleason grading parameters. The prostate cancer module continues to be developed with more data to achieve expert-level grading performance.
Consultation System
Acıbadem Hospitals have two different consultation systems, which are web based consultation system and mobile application provided by Virasoft. With web-based consultation system, pathologist can share instantly whole slide digital images and case information with consultant pathologist. In other respects, mobile consultation application provides real-time consultation by using microscope attachment device (VIMO). Mobile application is mostly used for consultation of frozen sections in Acibadem Hospitals.
